What is a Safety Harness Train the Trainer course?

Your in-house trainers have to start somewhere and whilst their initial training courses will have provided a strong foundation to train other members of your team, additional training and top-ups are required to ensure every trainer can continue to deliver the most up-to-date knowledge.

Is a Safety Harness Train the Trainer course right for me?

Our Safety Harness Train the Trainer course is suitable for any trainer looking to educate any person who works at height and uses a safety harness. The programme is designed for safety harness trainers with varying levels of experience, from beginners to experienced practitioners.

We’ve had trainers from all industries enrolling on our Safety Harness Train the Trainer courses, including those within construction, roofing, industrial, landscaping, scaffolding, offshore, marine and electrical organisations.

What can you expect from a Safety Harness Train the Trainer course?

Our Safety Harness Train the Trainer course lasts for two days in total. It’s currently being delivered online until March 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions, but face-to-face training will resume as soon as it can.

The course aims to provide harness safety and basic working at height training, and delivers comprehensive guidance on the inspection, fitting and use of all fall restraint harnesses. After completing the course, your trainer will obtain a City & Guilds Profile of Achievement Award 3791 and an NTS Trainers certificate.

There is no requirement for prior learning for this course.  By the end of he course you will be able to display an understanding of the following:

  • Basic overview of the Work at Height Regulations
  • Hazards and risks when working at height
  • Fall prevention, fall restraint & fall arrest
  • Harness types and standards
  • Component parts of fall arrest systems
  • Pre-use inspection of harness and lanyards
  • Correct wearing and fitting of harness (practical exercise)
  • Storage of care equipment
  • Rescue provision requirements
  • Structuring and delivering training including dealing with various learning styles
  • Assessment of trainees
